Cutter 0:21
Good morning, good afternoon and good evening everyone. My name is cutter though you may know me as three bears in a coat on air on HD one and welcome to this episode of you'll never believe me but.
Cutter 1:06
You'll never believe me, but is a storytelling podcast being produced here at WKNC about lying to me, every episode I have a guest on and they tell me two stories one real and one fake, and I have to decide which is real between them. For those of you that are new here, or for those of you that need a quick refresher, I'm gonna read down the three rules we have here before we get into today's episode. Rule number one, your story should not do significant damage to anyone else to their character. We're not trying to be outwardly mean to anyone other than ourselves. Rule number two, if someone else is featured in the story, you must either have the permission to say their name or use a fake name for them. You agreed to come on the show and tell these stories. But unless they agreed to have the stories told just use a fake name. And rule number three, and this is the easiest one. All stories should start with. You'll never believe me but and then a brief synopsis before starting the story, just so we all know what we're getting into and does a nice little nod to the show's title. So with all that housekeeping stuff out of the way, let's go ahead and get into today's episode. Today's guest is Maddie, my roommate, my other roommate the second of my roommates to come on, you'll never believe me. But the first person I met at NC State through being on campus and a really good friend of mine. I'm excited to have you on it's been a long time coming. Maddie, how are
Maddie 2:19
you? I'm doing okay, um, I have been waiting so long.
Cutter 2:27
A long time. Oh, yeah. No, absolutely. It has been mostly my fault about getting you on. I will agree with that. I will agree. But it needed to happen. And it is happening. And frankly, I'm just grateful that you're here and still willing to come on despite the fact that I had not had you on in so long considering we've known each other this whole time.
Maddie 2:51
I know. Well, I mean, I am a little jealous. I'm not the first 90 Come on. Oh, well. I mean, yeah. Fairness.
Cutter 2:56
You were not in Raleigh when I recorded that episode. That is so true. So I mean, I felt right to have on, you know, the general manager of the station.
Maddie 3:07
You know, maybe but you know, it's just the only Maddie that should matter. Not should matter. Me matters. No, I don't know. Maybe not.
Cutter 3:18
Wow, really, really high standards early.
Maddie 3:21
I guess I'm more jealous of the fact that our other roommate came on.
Cutter 3:26
Sure, sure. So Emily. Yeah, Emily came on for an episode in the afterdark mini season that we did. Yeah, that's fair. I think that's a reasonable thing to be a little bit jealous over. Yeah.
Maddie 3:38
She also used like the her story. That was a lie. That was my story. That happened to me. Yeah. You came home?
Cutter 3:47
Well, it's funny. You had already told me that story, actually. And I never I didn't say that at the time. But you had already told me that story. And I didn't use it in any of my reasoning, but I did. Or maybe I did, but I didn't think I remembered you telling me that story gone.
Maddie 4:01
As you can guess my story.
Cutter 4:06
So far this season, people have done a done a good job of fooling me, of course, in the past two episodes where I've been guessing I've been wrong both times. So
Maddie 4:15
oh, I mean, true. Fine, you know, so I feel like I've already told you like a ton of random. Oh, yeah.
Cutter 4:24
I mean, as it as it should be. And as it happens, especially if
Maddie 4:29
you already know. It's in like, I'm gonna say it and you're gonna be like, Oh my God,
Cutter 4:34
it makes me feel any better. I wouldn't. I wouldn't use that as my only reasoning. I would come up with other reasons. So like, in my like, and I've done it before, because I've had it happened before, where I've been like, look, I mean, it's you know, like this and that and I feel like maybe I'd heard this but I don't know if I'm like mistaken. Like that was part of my reasoning. When I guess Gabby's story and I got that one wrong because I was like, I thought I'd heard this story. Last one. But yeah, but it was a genuine mistake in a case of mistaken, different Middle Eastern country.
Maddie 5:09
Yeah, to be fair, I had listened to hers. I think it was like last week or something like that. And I was like, There's no way like, because I was also kind of on your side for a second. Like her getting lost in like, what was it, Jordan? Yeah. Like I was like, No way. Oh, yeah.
Cutter 5:24
Absolutely. But no, I'm excited to have you on. And I mean, yeah, we are. I mean, it's tough. Especially for you. Because we've lived together for I mean, eight months now. Yeah. Since August since August. Oh, yeah. Probably longer than eight months, then. Yeah. No, no, whatta? No, doesn't matter. Seven or eight months? No, but I mean, I especially with just had just, I mean, how many random things get brought up? And how many random stories get told that I would imagine it is difficult. It is. I think, I think you have a more similar experience to me than a lot of other guests. In that like process of trying to come up with stories that that, you know, no one's heard. But at least for me, it's like, I'm trying to come with a story that I've told as few people as possible. Yeah. And the trouble with me is as evident from this podcast, and anyone who has ever spent more than five minutes with me, that's all I do. All I do is tell stories. And yeah, and so it
Maddie 6:29
becomes known storytelling.
Cutter 6:34
I mean, so much sound it really does. And so it's, it becomes it becomes very troublesome. But I don't know, I feel like you're, you're probably one of the people who barring like a family member were to come on, you know, I think you're one of the people who had to have a more similar experience to me. Yeah.
Maddie 6:53
Like, make sure. Because I kind of was like, Okay, if I tell Emily my stories, and if she doesn't know, then we're good, right? Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Um, and so, it was clear there, Emily?
Cutter 7:06
Okay, nice. So as long as you didn't tell me on any of Emily's like, yeah.
Maddie 7:13
I really, that's my only shot about getting this right. Because I really don't know. Oh, sure. Yeah, so Well,
Cutter 7:20
in fairness, I am distinctly bad at this game that I've created. Like, genuinely horrible at it. So you know, you've probably got you've probably got good odds to slip one by me here. Yeah, we'll see. Absolutely.
Maddie 7:38
I would have no idea. I am just gonna hope. Yeah, I mean, sure. Everything's gonna go okay.
Cutter 7:47
That is all you can well, all you can do. Well, I mean, I guess unless you have any other questions or things you want to say you know, to set the scene for at least you know, our connection you know, we'll wait we're gonna enter i don't know I'm just really fill in air here. If you have any questions or anything else you want to you want to get get out there before you tell your stories. Now would be the time I think I'm good. Well, in that case, I mean, I'm more than excited. This has been much anticipated for me when we did talk about this. So I think let's just go ahead and if you will get into your first story
Maddie 8:31
no more blame me but I snuck on the roof of a restaurant and my best friend got caught by the cops
Cutter 8:42
you know, I love the title of this show in particular because they're you know, you come on and people tell lambda stories. I believe that like that. Yeah, that sounds very but no. Yeah. Pray tell. How'd you end up on the roof? Getting caught by the cops, please?
Maddie 9:01
Um, so I guess for some context, please. I was in high school. I was a junior. I was like, 16 years old, maybe? Okay. I'm pretty sure I was 16. Yeah. Um, and so I would like stay at my best friend's house. Her name is Aubrey. Um, I would say to her house like pretty much every single weekend in high school, like from freshman year to senior year just because of band and she was close by course um, and she also worked at a restaurant that was like pretty close to her house anyways, yeah, yeah. So like she could like walk to it and stuff. This was before it closed it closed like oh, no, like halfway through junior year. So um, this is like my only real interaction with it has been it had been there for like my entire childhood. Wow. Oh, I had never really gone just because everyone had bad ratings on it and, um, but already worked there. And um, yeah,
Cutter 10:11
sure. I mean, she wasn't good enough reason to be there. Yeah,
Maddie 10:15
yeah. Um, so I guess I can kind of get into the story by but basically, it was in like, oh god like mid September. And I just remember going over his house, like one night after a football game was like a Friday night. And there was no like competition. Like, we had competitions for band like, Sure. On Saturdays, usually, but there was no competition. So I was just like, Okay, well, let's go. We're at our house, we'll hang out. No big deal. So we just, I don't know, just we're hanging out. In her house, we didn't stay in her room. We stayed like, and I heard den, which is, like, on the opposite side of the house from all the bedrooms. So Gotcha. Just so we can make noise and her grandparents who she lives with, right? What not hear us? Like, make noise usually responsible. We're very loud. Yeah. Um, so we were in there, just kind of hanging out. And then one of her co workers, or the story, I'll just call him Ben. So Ben texted, like Aubrey, or snapshotted. Her I can't remember. And was like, Hey, do you want to like, hang out right now? Um, and it was pretty late at this point. Sure. Yeah. Gotten home around like 1130. Okay. Yeah. So it was like, probably, like, close to 1am at this point. And so I get this text. And Aubrey is kind of just like, I'm at home with a friend. And it's like, late and stuff. And, um, I mean, like, at the time, I wasn't like a goody two shoes, but I was a guy. It's usually my parents were super strict. So I had, like, never snuck out before. And like that. I haven't, like gone off and with someone I didn't know, the middle of the night or anything like that. So I was kind of like, maybe we shouldn't. Sure. Yeah, maybe we shouldn't go. But I already was just kind of like, I mean, what are we going to do? Like, stay here the entire night? And I was like, yeah, yeah. Where I'm supposed to be. Um, but I don't know how she convinced me. She was like, we'll just go. Like, it's fine. We're not gonna go far. We'll be out that late. I'm, like, no one's gonna know. And I was more like, I wanted to have my phone on me. Because, like, it's my phone. But also, my parents had like a app tracking thing. Yeah. Yeah. I'm not sure if it was like, like, six feet time, but it was something. Sure. And so if I left the house, I would have to leave it there. And I Yeah, it was just like, I didn't want to leave my phone. That's fine. Just in case like anything happened, or Yeah, like, God forbid, my mom was just like, call me at like, the middle of the night. It was like, I'm gonna get you now. Yeah, I don't know what like it was like all those fears. That's fair. Yeah. Um, but we decided to go. And so we kind of her house is like, full security on it. Like the windows have it in. Okay, sure. So for this one door, that's like, right by the den, back door. So we bought the back door, kind of went around her garage. I met Ben on like the street, so like they wouldn't like yours. Yeah. And so we get in the car. I'm kind of quiet. I don't know him. This is the first time I met Ben. I met a few times after this, but it wasn't like, like, Oh, hi. Nice to meet you. And there's nothing like that. Yeah, that quietly back there. And Aubrey and him sat in the front, obviously, because he was driving. Sure. Um, so we went to the restaurant where they work at, which is only like a like, it's less than a five minute drive for Oh, wow. Okay, her house. So super close. She often like walked there, because she didn't have a car at the time. So super close to the house. Um, and, um, oh, God, so we get there and he kind of like parks and like, kind of like the off part of the parking lot. Sure. Guess like, what there's like, not as many cameras or whatever. Yeah. And I was like, Yeah, whatever. I mean, we had for another coworker to get there and we'll call him Jack. Sure. Is the first and only time I met Jack. But, um, Jack was there. And I still didn't really know what was going on. Um, I was just kinda
Cutter 14:55
there long for the ride at this point. Yeah, killing it. Yeah, brilliant. Yeah, yes.
Maddie 14:59
so great. Um, and so just kind of following them, whatever. I'm like, I guess Jack kind of goes to the back and he's like, Oh yeah, I found like, this way to go up to the roof. And I was like, wait, what? I was like, What are we about to do? Um, and so like, I don't know, I was just like, this is a bad idea. We should just go home. But at this point, Aubrey was very committed to it. Oh, of course. Yeah. So like, I knew that I couldn't go home alone. I could have walked but again, wanting. Yeah, I was a little a little nervous. Yeah, so I was just kind of like, whatever. I'll go and so I remember. I think it was Jackie got up first because I think he already gotten up there before. And like the way we got on top of it was so like, the kitchen walk in like the walk in freezer. Yeah. Was kind of sticking out of like, the side of the building. Sure. Yeah. Well, I'm like using my hands right now.
Cutter 16:10
Good. Yeah. I just regulate a lot even on this show. Just as a way to for my sake, when I'm telling a story. Yeah.
Maddie 16:16
Yes. Whatever. Anyways. So we get
Cutter 16:19
the listeners there was, there was like a pushing motion with the hand.
Maddie 16:22
Like, like, came out a building. So I was like, it's a jet out. You know, it's like a Yeah, so it wasn't like part of the building. But it was part of the building. I don't know. No, no. But it was a little bit shorter than the actual roof. So, um, so I watched jack it up first, and I watched Aubrey get out. And by the time that she was up there, I was like, Okay, I'm screwed. I have to go up there now. Yep. Um, so I kind of like got on like this little like, Crate box thing. Because I wasn't athletic at all. I couldn't like run and jump on top of this thing. But I like kind of hopped up on there, and then like, pushed myself up on the walk in. And then from there, I was able to, like get to the roof. Okay, and so I'm on top of the roof. And then Ben is last person. And so we got there, and we're just kind of like, oh my God, we are up here now. Yeah. And this is like part of like a giant shopping center. I've been to my whole life. Oh, wow. Okay, so for me to be on top of this place. I was like, Oh my God. I was freaking out. I was like, also, this is kind of cool. Yeah. Like, I made it up here. Didn't think I could do that. I couldn't. But anyways, um, and so we were just kind of like having a little celebration thing going on. Sure. And, um, we were doing some stuff that I probably can't get into, but after after that, I was like, more relaxed and it was fine. I wasn't bringing out as much. And I think it was Jackie, like, it was like, kind of like walking around. And, um, he's really picking up rocks. From like, the roof. Sure, like, gravel on it. Yeah, like that. Yeah. And he started to like, pick up the rocks and like was chucking them at the semi truck. Oh, nice. Yeah. And so like, it's right next to the grocery store. So it was like that grocery store or semi truck? Or like, if they had, like, Come like Melbourne items to drop off? Yeah. Yeah, I don't know it was there. And so he was like, chucking rocks. At this semi truck. Oh, brilliant. So we're all just like, Oh my God. Let's go with throw rocks in my truck worse. Yeah, so we just wrapped like throwing the rocks. And they're all not hitting because we're still on top of like, only like the restaurant roof. The roof Sure. Um, so we kind of like get up on the roof. That is like the grocery store. Like they're both the roof like but like there's like a little gap. Yeah, like the restaurant roof and that restore roofs on that roof and check in again. I remember. Ben like kind of like fell back at one point like stumbled back and fell off through like, grocery store roof and onto the, on the restaurant. That was kind of funny. And I remember like, Jack like picking up like a cinderblock kind of like just like a like a brick kind of thing. Yeah. And like threw it on the ground from the roof. Not in this my truck. It was not on the on the ground. Yeah, yeah. And it like burst into like all these pieces. Amazing. So that was also pretty funny. Yeah, um, we were just having a good time. Surely up there. Yes. Hanging out. And then we start hearing sirens. Ah, cool. Sirens
Cutter 19:45
super awesome. Yeah, shoot at all.
Maddie 19:48
Yeah, um, so we're all just panicking or like, oh my god, like they're gonna come for us. Yo, and so we start like, kind of hiding on the roof in between like the gap of like the rest You're on roof and like the like grocery store roof. We're trying to like hide in there. And for a second, we're thinking it's working like okay, we got it because like, they're like shining like the flashlights up on the roof. Oh, good, but like they can't see us. We're like, Okay, let's go away eventually. After that we'll get off and go home. Yep. Um, and then the clock. It's like the megaphone out. And it's like, if you don't come down right now, we're gonna call the fire department and they'll take you down. And I was like, okay. So we all kind of like look at each other. And we're like, Okay, we'll get off. And the second we get off you run.
Cutter 20:46
Oh, good. No, that's a great idea. Yeah.
Maddie 20:49
Like, there was like, some wooded area behind the like, I guess restaurants will be just like gone in the woods and separate, like, Hey, God, just take off. Yeah. Um, so we get off. And the first person off I think was Jackie starts renting. And then it's like, you know, I think it was me. And I waited for Aubrey. And we just started running. And then I remember Ben, like, halfway getting off before the cop, like, came around and like, had like, the flashlight pointed at us. And I was like, Oh, no. Are you kidding me? Like, at this point, I was flipping out. Oh, yeah. I was like, my parents are going to kill me. It's over. It's over. Yeah. Um, and then I can't remember whose idea it was. I don't remember it was apres Arman idea or my idea. Um, but someone was like, like, You're my sister. Like, like, I'm like we're twins. And you live with dilate with Aubree Okay. Okay. So because she knew where I knew someone knew that if it got back to my parents, I would be dead for life. Right? Yeah, sure. I would never be able to hang out with Aubrey again. Yeah, of course. And so I think it might have been me, just because I was just currently terrified. And we had like been called like, Oh, are you siblings before? Sure. Yeah, I was like, Okay, maybe this work. Um, and so we walk up to this cop. And she's like, What are you doing? We're just like, are hanging out?
Cutter 22:28
Simply existing Office? Yeah,
Maddie 22:30
just just hanging out. Um, and she's like, Why are you out here? So like? I don't know. It's it's a weekend or just out? I don't know. And she was like, Okay, I need some ID. And me being a smart person. And Aubrey also being the smart person. We didn't bring our IDs course. Yeah. I mean, we were like, we had like our permits, but we weren't like licensed. Yep. So like, why would we bring our permits? Yeah,
Cutter 23:04
no reason. Don't get them. Yeah. So
Maddie 23:06
we're good. So we're, we're just like, we don't have IDs, Ben and Jack do so because they both drove there. Yep. Unlucky. Oh, yeah. So I was like, they're screwed. Yep, we're still good. We're still good. Not
Cutter 23:17
my problem. But sorry for you guys. Yeah,
Maddie 23:19
so we're good. Um, and then then she's like, Okay, call your parents. And those of you who don't know, Aubrey she got. Um, so I just remember like, Aubrey, like kind of laughing a little bit. Um, and she was like, I don't live with my parents in jail. So I can call like, the jail or something. Something like that, or whatever. And so this cop is like, getting mad at us. Oh, yeah. As far as just like, completely, like not answering your questions or anything like that. But then she was like, okay, that had you live with and we were both like, oh, with our grandparents. Yeah. Oh, nice. Yeah, you
Cutter 24:13
got to loop it in together. Exactly. their grandparents.
Maddie 24:15
Yeah. And then she was like, Okay, call her grandparents. And I didn't have my phone. Because I
Cutter 24:22
left behind. So good, but no,
Maddie 24:26
so unlucky. She called her grandparents. But her grandma's phone is in the kitchen. left hanging out. So her grandma's not by her phone. Brilliant. So it rings. No one answers. It again. No one answers perfect. And then the COP is again just kind of getting mad. Sure. Yeah. Um, and it's like, Okay, call your grandparents from my phone. Okay, okay. Totally. Fine. Yep. Always again, no one answers. And so, like, at this point, she's just like, fine. No one's answering. I can't do anything. But you're but you're all banned from like the shopping center.
Cutter 25:10
sure that that
Maddie 25:12
feels fair. Yeah. And then chat going like, so we all work here. Actually. I don't know why he looked me in because I did not work. Sure. I did not have a job at the time. Um, but I think we all kind of like nodded our heads like, yep, we work here. So you can us Yep. And so she was like, You know what? I'm done. Sign this piece of paper and go home. And I was like, okay, like, I'd write my name down at this point. Yep. And it was like, Oh, God, what was it? It was like a warning misdemeanor thing. Like, you could have gotten a misdemeanor? Sure. Yeah. I guess I'm just not, but I still have to like sign this piece of paper. Sure. Um, and so we kind of like to scribbled our names. It's not like very clear. Yep. Perfect. Yeah, whatever. Right call. Yeah, go home. And the second we get home, Aubrey deletes all the messages from her grandma's phone. Yeah. And yeah, we've not gotten asked about it since. Like, the cop never called back.
Cutter 26:27
Sure. Yeah. Why bother?
Maddie 26:29
I don't think they My name's in the system. Nice. Nice. Yeah. My parents never found
Cutter 26:37
out. Oh, brilliant.
Maddie 26:40
Overall successful. Roof
Cutter 26:44
thing. I really successful rooftop excursion.
Maddie 26:46
Yeah. So minus the getting caught bar.
Cutter 26:50
Yeah. What a fun first time sneaking out.
Maddie 26:54
Yeah, um, I don't think I snuck out any other time
Cutter 27:00
during high school after that.
Maddie 27:03
I just couldn't do it. Nope. Yeah. No, absolutely not.
Cutter 27:10
That's reasonable. Yeah. Oh, my goodness. That's brilliant. Well, hey, you got away with it. What does it matter? Yeah. Do you know what to do? You know what the statute the statute of limitations on trespassing is in the state of North Carolina. Oh, I think I think we might have to look that up here. I think so you might be in trouble. I mean, it's been almost four years. Okay.
Maddie 27:36
Is that happened?
Cutter 27:36
Okay. So Okay. Well, we'll do some research before before, like, we'll do some research before this episode is over. Okay. I think just so we can just we can be like, real clear to the audience. If you're listening and you're a police officer. Stop listening. Yeah, stop listening, listening. Don't listen to the Yeah, listen to the rest of this episode. But like, like, turn the volume all the way down on your phone just so that way. So it shows that you listen to it. But so that way, it's that way. You know, if you're like a police officer in the North Carolina area, don't don't worry about it. Don't worry. Don't worry about it. We're good. It's totally chill. Not a problem. Not at all issue. Me It's not even in your jurisdiction because this happened in
Maddie 28:18
and like Mint Hill, North Carolina, Mint Hill, North Carolina. Yep.
Cutter 28:25
Yeah. Well, yeah, it was a wonderful eventful time. I'm excited to see how you're going to tell another story to rival that. Yeah. Oh, man. Well, unless you have anything to add to this story,
Maddie 28:42
you don't have any questions for me.
Cutter 28:44
I'll ask them. I'll put them all together. lump them all together. Yeah, yeah. But thank you for your brilliant first story.
Maddie 28:53
Thank you never believed me but I got chased by a man on you cycle and Wilmington
Cutter 29:06
the head that is so aggressively Wilmington core. Oh, yeah, that's so absolutely something that can happen in Wilmington. Oh my god. Yeah, please. Yeah. Holy cow.
Maddie 29:17
So this story also includes Aubrey. Okay.
Cutter 29:20
Okay, I'm noticing a trend. Yeah. I did have a little help. Lots of lots of lots of running away. Wow. Well, that's a lots of you. And, and Aubrey, getting into a little bit of malicious mischief. And then just taking off and being followed by by arbitrators of the law. On one wheeled one wheeled vehicles,
Maddie 29:54
you have to embrace that. I'm not going to Okay, so basically, I think I was a sophomore in high school at this time. So
Cutter 30:05
free rooftop excursion? Oh, yeah,
Maddie 30:08
sure. Um, and we were going to like see like UNC Wilmington. Just just to look and see if it was hot. Yeah, I didn't even fly. Yep. Um, just because it was, whatever. It's definitely for a certain type of person. It definitely is. And it definitely wasn't for us. But we have like, took a weekend in November, I think November, November, and we just went Torrington. Sure. No, like, it was just like, okay, yeah, well, if on the weekends, we live on Saturday morning, from our beach house, and then with our grandparents. And we were staying in like this VRBO like Battle House Situation. Or about,
Cutter 30:53
um, this episode is not sponsored nor affiliated with verbo. And it's not, please continue. You want to reach out? Like this story? Let me
Maddie 31:05
know. I want to be associated with this story. I don't know.
Cutter 31:09
Remains to be seen. Doesn't mean to
Maddie 31:11
be seen. But we stayed in like a house because I'm like, Ah, I'm on vacation. I'm always grandma. We call her Mimi. Mimi does not like hotels. She is strictly against hotel. You know what? I'm with Mimi on this one? Yeah. And I understand she owns like a cleaning business. So she has seen
Cutter 31:32
the she knows she's seen she's seen how the sausage is made as it were,
Maddie 31:36
I guess so. You know that phrase, not her. It's
Cutter 31:40
a way to describe the the actual gross processes of something that you enjoy or or just just appreciate the end product have never heard that before? Oh, well. Anyway, anyways. So she's seen how the hotels are cleaned as it were.
Maddie 31:59
Yeah, she, she she knows more than I want to know. Yep. Fair. So we always like whenever I went on trips with them. You were to stay in rental houses that she did a full like,
Cutter 32:10
Oh, I'm sure yeah. Oh, yeah.
Maddie 32:13
Um, so we stay in this one house and it was like two storeys, and her grandparents were like staying in the bottom story. And we had the top of your head the top. Okay. Um, it also had a roof being climbed up onto course. So we got so when we got there, we got in the roof, because it was like, You pump window open, and it's right there. Oh, yeah. It's beautiful. So we got on that. And we're kind of hanging out like, Oh, this is so cool. I'm around the roof. We're on the roof. And we kind of like looked down, and we see a couple bikes. Just sitting there. And I say that because it's important, relevant later. Sure. Um, and we're like, okay, there's some bikes down there. Cool. Um,
Cutter 32:58
tool that will help us later.
Maddie 33:01
Exactly. We go to like, like, go see the campus and like a bit of downtown, some dinner. No big deal. If you've never been to Wellington, the campus is not that great. It's pretty chill place. It's chill. We also went during like a really bad time. So like, it was like raining. They were still doing like, renovations on like the latest hurricane.
Cutter 33:30
No, I think that's actually a pretty clear, clear view on what it's like to be there.
Maddie 33:37
Probably totally right. Yeah. But, um, yeah, it just wasn't a good time to go. Sure. Yeah. Um, and so we got dinner. And by that point, it was like getting kind of late and her grandparents kind of go to bed early. Like, a lot of grandparents do. Sure. Yeah. And Aubrey had, like, ask them in the car ride back to the rental house. Oh, can we go to the beach? Because it was like dark. And we wanted to the beach at nighttime. Sure. Yeah. And they were like, No. And I was not surprised at all. Because I just know that they wanted to get home and then yeah, just take it. Easy. Yeah. Like no, like, no, no, doing no more. No. They were done. Sure. Um, so we're like, Okay, fine. And all we kind of put an argument, but it did not work, obviously. Because we were home. Yep. Tracks. And, um, so we got up to the, like, a bit, I guess, like our bedroom upstairs. And Aubrey was like, Do you wanna go to the beach? Like I was like, we can tomorrow. Yes, yeah. Oh, and she was like, No, tonight. I was like, okay, um, So how are we gonna get there? And she was like, There's bikes down there. The bikes from earlier bikes from earlier. Yes. So I was like, Okay, how we're gonna get out and already on the roof? Oh, well, unfortunately the roof was too tall, Dan. No. And so we just were like, Okay, we'll go down the stairs, and we'll sneak out. And we'll leave the door unlocked. Perfect. And we'll get the bikes and we'll go no way this goes wrong. No way this goes wrong. And so it's also around when I am Miss time super late. Yep. Um, and we go downstairs as quietly as we can. Um, the rental was like a little bit older. So there were some cracks in the stairs. Sure, sure. Which really freaked me out. Yeah, I get nervous. I laugh. Oh, yeah. And so I kept like, laughing like always on the stairs and like across the floor, or the door and all recap like looking at me and was like, quiet and did not think we're gonna make it past the living room to be honest, just because of me. Yeah. We made it. We got out the door. Unlocked. Yep, we're good. We're solid. You go back to the our back. You go around to the back of the house. And we get the bikes. And we there is like the bikes are right under the window of like, her grandparents bedroom. Oh, nice. So we're just being really quiet. Yeah. And we get the bikes and we go like to the street, and mine's broken. We had to go back and get like another one. Nice. I think there were like four bikes back there. Awesome. And they were all like super old. Sure. Yeah, old bikes. And so we go back, get other bikes. Go out to the street. And Aubree gets like her like Apple Maps up to go to the beach. Well, f maps, at least at the time, and I hope I think today's still doesn't have very good cycling directions. Yeah, cycling. Cycling directions are hard. Yeah, yeah. So it took us on like the main road. And we were like, we're not going on the main road with bikes at 1am. Yeah, that's bad idea. That idea. Yeah. So we were just like, Okay, well, what we do, and I'll be like, pulled up her person out map. And nice led us through the neighborhood. Brilliant to, like, come out and like some other end and then get to the beach that way. Perfect. Okay, so clever. Oh, yeah. So we are in like, the bikes, and we're just going down the street having a good time. Um, everything's fine. It's like a 20 minute bike ride. So it's not that bad. Yeah. Um, and so we get to, like, kind of a place in the neighborhood where it's like, okay, it's like, okay, still safe, like we're good. And this car, like, kind of passes by us. And like, turns around and passes by us again. Oh, that's a good sign. Right sign? Oh, yeah. And we're just kind of like, okay, well, we'll keep going. And if we just don't stop the Okay. Sure, yeah. If we just don't stop, the car won't stop, and they won't try to grab us. kidnap us? Yeah.
Cutter 38:17
How would that how would they? How would they catch us? If we were so much faster than them?
Maddie 38:22
Faster? Like, it'd be impossible grab us. Yeah. Um, but anyways, so we just kind of keep going, trying to ignore this car that keeps like, you know, coming alongside us. And we start noticing, like, there's fewer and fewer streetlights. Like in the neighborhood. So we're kind of like, That's odd. Because like, it was a pretty big neighborhood. Like this neighborhood. Like, went on for a while. Sure. Yeah. And, like they're like to see like, less and less streetlights was like, kind of concerning, but we were like, you know, it's fine. Maybe this is just like the port that's closer to the entrance. And that's why like, they don't have any Yeah, yeah, whatever. Not a big deal. And so we're just like, Okay, we'll get to the like the street that we need to be on the beach. And they'll be like, they're perfect. We're fine. Yep, we did the entrance. We turn that street. Yep. And there's no lights. Yep. Good to Yep. Good to see now and come on. Yep. Um, we were actually in a very sketchy area. At that point. Gone to okay, this was like a cute little neighborhood too. Okay. We shouldn't be here. Me Up. I'm scared. Yeah. There was just like, homeless everywhere. And I'm like, people that were obviously I don't know how to describe this without, but they it was a place where to like 15 year old girls should not have been at 1am in the morning. Sure. Yeah, like just should not have been there. Yeah. Um, and so we were just like, Okay, well stay on the street. There's like not that many cars on the street. Huh. And we'll just go down. It's like only like less than five minutes to the beach. Perfect. We're fine. Totally fine. We'll just keep going. Or everyone else on the side of the street and minor on business. Yeah. And so we're kind of just pedaling down. And then this guy, like a, like a little bit weighs down from us. Like, kind of, I don't know, if he like got a car, he or he was just like, hanging out by this car. Like, kinda like comes out and is like, coming towards us, but like, really fast. Oh, okay. So we are just like, This is odd. And he just didn't stop like it was like he was running towards us. Sure. Yeah, like in the middle of the street. Oh, where we were running on the sidewalk, where other people were just barreling down into sure where we were. Yeah, like coming towards us on our side. So Aubrey stops because she's in front of me. And I stop. And I like look at her. And she just turns around and neighborhood entrance. And I'm just like, Okay, here we go. And so we're like, going as fast as we can. I'm like, kind of like looking back. I'm like, reenacting it. I'm like trying to see this guy. Because we're thinking of this the guy from the car from earlier. Yep. That was following us. And now we're on this like, really bad part of town. Yeah, yeah. He's gonna catch us. And we're at the beach. Yeah. And so we were just going to try to get back to the entrance. Where there's some light. Sure. Yeah. And, um, we get to the entrance and Aubrey stops because we're like, just out of breath. Sure. Yeah. And we like turn around. And under, like the little bit of light that was around us. We see this guy is just on a unicycle. on a unicycle doing his own thing, and it's only girls. Um, yeah, um, he did not care about us. Wow, he was talking to himself, though. So Oh, my goodness. He was just his own. His own thing was going on.
Cutter 42:10
What a way to defuse the situation. Oh, yeah.
Maddie 42:13
And, um, and so I'm just like, Okay, well, do we like, keep going? Like, we're only like, less than five minutes from the beach. It shouldn't be that bad. Yeah. But like, always wasn't having it. That's fair. I mean, between like,
Cutter 42:34
like that do our and being chased by a man on a unicycle? Exactly.
Maddie 42:38
And we were just like, worried that if someone did follow us to the beach, we wouldn't have our bikes at that point. Oh, no. Yeah. It would just be two girls on a beach at 1am. Yep. In this kind of, like, not fun part of town. Sure. So, um, you get on the bikes. And we're just like, going as fast as we can on these bikes back to the rental house. Um, and we get back and you go inside and then we sneak back up the stairs and we're just done. Yeah. Like, it was just like, What the heck just happened? Absolutely. moments of just like, that was odd. Still trying to process that one? For sure. Um, yeah, that was it. Um, oh,
Cutter 43:27
wow. Yeah. Man, what a what a way to deflate the tension in a situation than to look back at your the person chasing you just, it's a guy on unicycle?
Maddie 43:38
I mean, it definitely like I was still definitely like very nervous. I was Oh, sure. Yeah, I was just like, What the heck is going on? Yeah. And I was like, Oh, I mean, just a guy. It's just a dude just doing his own little thing. unicycle and one I am. unicycle and throwing down.
Cutter 43:54
Why not? Why not? No better time? Really?
Maddie 43:57
Oh, no, honestly, I'm jealous. I wish it was like, well, not the bike. Jaime so
Cutter 44:02
true. That is phenomenal. That is. Yeah, that's absurd. Wow, brilliant. Did you ever you know, we got no clarity on the car?
Maddie 44:12
No, um, I'm not sure how into the car. Um, because it's like, it's cycled, or, like back a few times circled like a few times, like, at least like four or five times. Oh, wow. Like it was definitely the same car because like there was no one else in the street. Same makes the models in color. Yep. Yep. Just one dude in there. Just did just a dude. And um, yeah, we just didn't see him ever again. I guess. He might have like, seen which direction we were going. Like towards like the kind of sketchy your part booted off? Yep. Yeah, sure. I'm, like, booked it out of there. Yeah, like, I'm like going to that part of town. Yeah. I've been to actually I um, I was, I was gonna say I've been to a Um, worst parts in Charlotte. That's not true. I gotcha. I haven't been to worst parts of Charlotte that plays but, um, there are the trolls that are kind of just like, like that area. Yeah. And while I was in Charlotte during that time it was during the day and I was in a car and I was still kind of scared. Oh, yeah. And I was out on a bike in the middle of the night in
Cutter 45:23
town. You never been in? Just terrible place. Super, super good combination of factors, though. Yeah, yeah. Wow. Well, you lived. I lived again, the unicycle did not hunt you dumb. So
Maddie 45:37
I also mentioned that I again, had to leave my phone at the house because my parents had a tracker on my phone course. So both times Maddie had no phone and it could have gone wrong. Just coming
Cutter 45:51
out the world. Nothing. Nothing but nothing but the wits in your brain and the super high school. Feet on your legs. Yeah. Yeah, my bike and your bike. I like half broken bike that you stole from the verbal. You were saying? Yeah. Yep. Yeah, I hope that hope that Mimi didn't get a bad review on verbo. I mean, using the bikes,
Maddie 46:18
no one knew they didn't know. Yeah. And like it was clear that bikes had been there for like a really long time. Sure. Probably, like, as old as I was at that point. Like, just super old bikes. Yeah, definitely. Like rusted even like without in the rain. Just wasn't in good condition. Oh, nice. Yeah. So yeah, what can you do? They weren't gonna know that to hop on them and went for a little joy ride. And when I am a little
Cutter 46:46
joyride at 1am Yeah, well, I I've got a lot of I've got a lot of thinking to do. You've, you've presented me with two very similar stories. I know. So, but I really do quite enjoy this one. And you just likely Nice. Oh, yeah. Very nice. Oh, well, thank you for this story. Malik. Now, here's what I want to say first. Okay. Right. As as just this isn't even really reasoning. Either way. I just think it's interesting. Right? Is in your first story. Right? You said it was junior year? Yes. And so your junior year. In that story, you said that you were nervous, because you had never really snuck out before. And I think that's funny, because obviously one of the stories one of one of the stories is true. One of them's fake. That's the whole that's the whole bit of the show. Yeah, right. But for it to be so engrained into the stories for you to go in your first story. That was the first time I stuck out and for you to in your second story go sneaking out and put the second one earlier. Oh, yeah, he's really full commit to it. Like, I mean, it doesn't matter. It doesn't change anything. It doesn't I have my extra times. In my first right. Sure. It doesn't give me any extra information because either it was your first time sneaking out. Or it wasn't or that wasn't. But either way, it doesn't really matter. You know, it doesn't mean anything either way. Yeah. Right. All it tells me is that one of the stories is true. And one of them is fake, which I would imagine is likely the case. Here's what I will say, right? First of all, love both stories. Thank you just think they're I think they're both brilliant again, really love the theming I think it's really consistent. I like that Aubrey is grandparents make an appearance in both Oh, yeah. Um, and Aubrey and Aubrey, of course. Aubrey shuttered Aubrey. And also you running away from things. But But I think here's what I think. I think you the way that you talked about you sneaking out in the second story made it seem like it wasn't that big of a deal to sneak out. Right. Like it, you know, still was a deal. You know, you talked about like laughing and being nervous about and probably not wanting to go, but it wasn't like, I don't want to do this. I don't want to do this. I don't want to do this. And in your first story, it was like a, you know, really was at this level like I you know, it was my first and so what I think what I think is interesting is in your second story, it sounded like that wasn't even your first time thinking. Okay, right. And so to me, that's a lot of like, that's a lot of evidence in favor of that story being true of like, not only do I have to believe that, you know, the first story is true and the second story is not I also have to believe that the like, casual tone of sneaky on the second story isn't true. Okay. Um, and I will say and this is in this is a little like this little like, I whatever you want to call it right? I feel like you were really nervous during your first story. I know. It's the first one you're telling and you know, nerves get to you. Sure, but I will say you look real really comfortable telling that second story. And I know for you listeners, that's not a great metric. But you just felt like you were felt like you were just telling a story. Sure. And I think, I don't know, I think content wise, both of these are pretty believable. You know, really, I think content wise. I believe the second one more. Okay. In addition to like, for all the additional reasons, I think, sneaking out in Wilmington, makes sense. You're at the beach, go back down to the beach. That seems like just an obvious thing to do. And I think I'm not sure. I don't know. I'm starting to second guess myself. So I'm gonna make my reasoning short. So that way I don't walk myself all the way back here. But I will say like, I don't know, I would imagine there's some truth to that first story. I just think I think you were you're nervous during it. And I think the the way you like full committed to being like, this was my first time seeking out versus how casually you told your second story like is an interesting dichotomy. Plus, I really want you to have been chased by a man. Be completely transparent.
Maddie 51:11
Hi, man. It is. It is like that. I don't know. I said,
Cutter 51:18
that's so cool. I still want it to be true. So I think I think I will. I gotta lock in my guests that the second story the story in Wilmington is true. And that you did to get chased by a man on a unicycle. Please let it be true. It is true. I am so happy. You're early. Because that mental image was so strong of you. Biking down flat beach road. You and Aubrey panting on these rusted out bikes getting into the light and whipping around in fear. Yeah, it's just a guy on a unicycle rolling.
Maddie 51:59
He was just there. He was. Just like what? Yeah, no, absolutely crazy.
Cutter 52:10
Using a unicycle genuinely for transportation. So weird. Yeah. So I
Maddie 52:16
I've seen people on campus, like used unicycles. before. And yeah, it's weird every time. Yeah. And just to see some random guy in the middle of the night just Milena
Cutter 52:25
in Wilmington. Are
Maddie 52:26
you just like,
Cutter 52:29
just going for? Oh, yeah. Midnight Ride? Oh, my goodness. Yeah. I think that raises then the obvious question of where did that first story come from?
Maddie 52:38
So the first story is actually partially true. Okay. Sure. However, I was not in it. Oh, okay. So Aubrey. Um, did go out with her coworkers. To the restaurant they worked at Yo, melt the night yo and take a cup of the cops.
Cutter 52:56
That got caught caught. Yeah. Okay.
Maddie 53:00
And operates grandparents eventually did find out.
Cutter 53:02
Oh, wow. Okay, sure.
Maddie 53:05
She did not get in trouble. Oh, okay. She was totally fine. Sure. Nice. Her grandparents were trying to just like don't do it again. If I was ever in that situation with her and like, she was just like, do you want to sneak out and go to this restaurant and do something illegal? At that time in my life? I would be too scared to say yes.
Cutter 53:25
Yeah, I was gonna I did consider that is that like, that seems like an out of character thing to do.
Maddie 53:32
Yeah. I have always I snuck out to places where I ever lived. Like Wilmington. And I snuck out of a few other places. Yeah, I don't live in I've never snuck out in Charlotte. Actually, that's a lie out of one place in Charlotte but I've never my parents house Sure. Never my best friend's house course. I'm just because I would be too scared to get caught. Yeah, I think that's fair. So I never snuck out and those those places but Willington Yep.
Cutter 54:03
Yeah. Oh my goodness. So the the sister like the sisters it was that something that already used when she got caught? Like actually was that? Uh,
Maddie 54:12
no, um, that was just gonna add it in. Sure. Yeah, man. Yeah. That tracks but we have been like, at least when we were both in high school we both like like, looked the same. At that time. We both have like that, like long kind of curly. Yeah, I'm like, both had like lighter eyes lighter, like skin tones. And so we had always been like, asked, Oh, when we go out. Are you are you siblings? Are you twin? Yeah, yeah. Um, and we'd always like kind of laughed it off. I'm like, no, like, obviously not like totally different. Yeah. And so I when I was like, coming up with like, how to add myself in the story, right. Like also add like not getting caught. Yeah, yeah, I was like, Okay, I'll just use that. That's perfect. Yeah, that's brilliant. Oh, yeah.
Cutter 54:59
Wonderful. are wonderful. Oh, well wow, it seems like everything turned out just like the best that it could have. Yeah, I guess so. Went out there to get caught the robberies. grandparents didn't care. And you got chased by a man on the unicycle?
Maddie 55:16
Yeah. I mean, I can, I can say pretty confidently I don't think I did anything that illegal, like in high school. Yeah. Like I was like, I was definitely a weird kid in high school. So I didn't run like a crowd, but like, yeah, get into like a lot of those situations. Yeah. I can't say the same about later life.
Cutter 55:36
Different time different people. Yeah, no, but
Maddie 55:38
at least like sophomore junior in high school. Yeah. It's hard to picture that person. Yeah. Doing something like that. For sure. Aubrey Oh, not
Cutter 55:49
sure. Yeah. In case that wasn't evident.
Maddie 55:51
I love you. It happened? Um, yeah. So that's how all we got her first misdemeanor.
Cutter 56:01
Amazing. Yep. Amazing. Brilliant. Well, it looks like you're off the hook for the statute of limitations. Yeah. Not that it would have mattered. I did check it just really, really quickly, really quite slyly. And it is two years for non what was it? Like? It was like insignificant misdemeanors, or I forget what the non malicious that's the word, non malicious misdemeanors. But we did also find the term malicious mischief. Yeah. Which has a statute of limitations for two years, and I would argue that's absolutely malicious mischief.
Maddie 56:37
Oh, yeah. For sure. I mean, if I was that kind of person back then. No question. I would do it. Yeah, just so I could be like, Oh, God, what was it? I started me. Malicious.
Cutter 56:49
Malicious mischief. Lead mischievious. Yes. Oh, actually. So I sounds Oh,
Maddie 56:56
I can't pronounce that very well.
Cutter 56:59
I just missed it. Yeah. Oh, brilliant. Well, I'm happy to have gotten it right. But I'm happy that you got chased by a man on unicycle probably more than anything else.
Maddie 57:09
It was definitely a moment I will never forget. I
Cutter 57:13
feel like it would be hard to to be
Maddie 57:15
I it was just I don't know. Like the last thing I expect from that nature. Yeah, like the last and that actually happened.
Cutter 57:27
Reasonable. Yeah. Brilliant. Well, I think we are going to take a quick break so you can listen to my two stories to make your own guests. So we'll be right back. Don't go anywhere. Hey, real quick while Matty is listening to my stories. If you like the podcast, be sure to hit the subscribe button wherever you're listening, whether that's on Spotify, Google podcast, or wherever else you get your podcast so you'll never miss an episode. Also, just that you will remember my two stories. Here's a quick recap. And my first story, I was working at a gymnastics summer camp, and I didn't take care of a child who peed himself getting peed on in the process. But this happened not once, but twice, two years apart. In my second story, I stopped into a friend's dorm for a late night conversation that ended up making him faint. And I took care of him another friend in the room passed out, which led to me taking care of both of them for most of the night, only to find out that one of the other people in the room was a trained medical practitioner thought that out of the way. Let's go ahead and get back into the action. Well, Maddie, those were my two stories. What do you think? Um, you can just give general thoughts first, you don't have to you don't have to dive straight into your guests or your
Maddie 58:36
um, I I was listening to like the very first episode when you explain these stories. Yeah, yeah. I kind of had like, I don't know flashbacks to your very first episode of this podcast ever. Sure. Yeah. And because I remember that the one that was a lie. And in season one, yeah. One happened around the same time as one of the stories in this.
Cutter 59:08
Yeah, yeah. I think Gabby actually pointed it out that I did have a a dorm life medical emergency story in season one as well. And that was a fake one. Yeah.
Maddie 59:19
Yep. Um, and I do know, like, what? So I remember that first story from the first season. Why yes, indeed. Wasn't your story, but it was someone else's
Cutter 59:33
Correct. Correct. It was it was a friend of ours story. Yeah.
Maddie 59:35
About mine. I remember talking to another friend of ours. And they knew immediately that it was a lie. Sure. Yeah. Because that friend had told them right. Yeah, cuz it had made its way. Sure. Yeah. So my initial impression of the second story is is that it's just a lie
Cutter 1:00:02
just another just another dorm life medical emergency lie Sure yeah
Maddie 1:00:08
because I I just had like the same
Cutter 1:00:12
I guess hitting all the same and all the same spots yeah
Maddie 1:00:15
so it's just like very okay I can I can kind of like
Cutter 1:00:21
I can map this onto yeah
Maddie 1:00:25
that was my like my first heard that I was like oh yeah no sure um but I was like thinking about the other story a little bit and um as Gabby Anna yeah pointed out kind of click Beatty sure
Cutter 1:00:44
feed on but whatever
Maddie 1:00:46
not really peed on though got pee Do you understand because I did also say I was chased by unicycle wasn't really chase my cycle I
Cutter 1:00:54
wasn't gonna say it
Maddie 1:00:55
no I am fully aware
Cutter 1:00:57
you come at me I'll I was gonna I was I was thinking about it yeah I
Maddie 1:01:01
saw this we'll turn it Yeah,
Cutter 1:01:03
I got ya know I got peed on the same way you got chased by a unicycle?
Maddie 1:01:08
Yeah, so I can't really argue that much. But I
Cutter 1:01:11
get it. I mean, that's honestly part of the fun of it.
Maddie 1:01:16
I mean, I argue that I got more chased by a unicycle then you're getting peed on by kids, but
Cutter 1:01:25
I don't know that I'll I don't know.
Maddie 1:01:27
Anyways, sure. Anyway, anyways. I, I know where the gym is. Yeah. We have a very close friend of ours who are exactly
Cutter 1:01:39
you can say you can say everyone really works there, currently.
Maddie 1:01:43
And from the stories I've heard from her, and also from you. Yep. About the gym. Yep. I remember there's another storytime that you had with us about the gym. Sure. About this one time summer camp where like, you asked me to vomit. Yeah. And like the parking lot. I'm pretty sure it was. Yep.
Cutter 1:02:03
That was that one was like classic. Yeah, I didn't tell that one. But yeah, that one was a lot of fun came into work. Just I'll give a brief version of it. Yeah, sure. Just came into work came in a little early, you know, like the, you know, good. 1015 minutes before my shift was supposed to start. But I was the last person to show up for the morning shift. And I walked in, and our front desk, or receptionist front desk lady who was so sweet, so wonderful. looks at me as I walk in and she goes, good morning. I'm like, good morning. She's like, how do you feel about vomit? And I was like, Uh huh. And then I scan down like the rest of everyone else who's there, and I see all of my pee all the other people who are scattered on that shift with it, which means all of them have already been asked. So it's just it's just me. And so I'm like, Oh, what happened? She's like, well, kid got carsick on the way in and threw up in the parking lot and stupid kids. Can you go clean it up? And I went, don't know what with but yeah, and she gave me 20 bucks and was like go down to the Lidl. There's like a Lidl in the shopping center that the gyms and she's like go down to the Lidl and go get cat litter and pour it on the port on the vomit. I never heard that before. By the way. This is a totally new experience for me. I've never heard of that. And I went okay. I walked up to the leader. This is again, I I like 10 minutes before my shift starts I walk up to the Lidl I spend five minutes minimum looking for cat litter, because I don't know where that is. I don't have I've never had a cat. That's not true. I had a cat for two weeks when I was when I was a wee little lad. And that cat was a monster. And we don't have we did not have a cat anymore. Oh, yeah. The cat was not a nice, not a nice animal. So sad. Yeah. But so found the cat litter bought it. She looked at the guy wearing my work attire. I come in 9am wearing my work clothes, put a tub of cat litter on there. Watch it slide down a little conveyor. I'm like looking at him as he does it. He scans it. He's like, Do you need a bag for this? Like for cotton? Obviously, I don't need a bag for this. I didn't say that. I was like, No, thank you. like nothing's wrong in the world. He's gonna go I went, yep, left. And then I spend the next five minutes wandering around the parking lot because I can't find it. And so I was wandering around. There are families parking and dropping their kids off walking their kids inside. They see me and work because they're like, Hey, I'm like, Hey, as I'm like scouring the ground box of cat litter in hand. And I do eventually find it. It's not even technically our like parking spots for the gym. Like it's parking spots for another business. And I'm like, Okay, I found it. It looks like someone If I hadn't known it was vomit, I would have just said someone spilled the red Slurpee. And it was oh, it was bowel. So I just helping of a cat litter all over the area. And then I like start like use the like bottom of the Tubby, like smooth that out a little bit. Oh my god. All right. Well, anyway, walk wagons that give it back to her. And then I work three hours and 55 more minutes of that day. No, I was on the clock for five minutes of that. And it was it was really a quite interesting way to start. So yes, I Yeah,
Maddie 1:05:38
yeah, I just thought about That's right. I did forget a little bit of it. Yeah, um, and so I was like, Okay, that sounds pretty believable. It's
Cutter 1:05:50
pretty believable.
Maddie 1:05:51
Um, I'm not I'm not sure. Like, if I remember, like, how old the kids were. I'm gonna guess they're pretty young. Yep. Yeah. I know, kids that kind of, do this other thing are usually real little. You'll be like, just potty trained. Yeah. Still kind of like in those like little pull up things? Yeah. Well,
Cutter 1:06:10
so the gym actually had to change the age policy telling. Yeah, yeah. As a result of the first incident. Yes. Then it didn't matter. Yeah, I
Maddie 1:06:23
guess not. Yeah.
Cutter 1:06:25
So for? I think it was, I think the first kitten the first part of the first year was three and then I think the second thing was for, but that's I mean,
Maddie 1:06:33
yeah, well, I mean, still super young. Yeah. Still really young, super young. So I can understand why like that story. I guess it's like, more believable. Yeah, sure. And
Cutter 1:06:44
super pee your pants double age.
Maddie 1:06:46
Yeah, super. But I don't know something. Something's off. I don't know. It's just, I'm pretty sure everyone up to this point has said, the second story is not true.
Cutter 1:06:59
Actually. It's a 5050. Oh, yeah. 5050. Who was it? Yeah. I mean, Gabby said that the first story was true. Yeah. And Natalie said the second story. Yes. Okay. So it's I mean, it's, it's a clean 5050 At least up until this point. So um, yeah. Oh, God.
Maddie 1:07:17
Because I'm pretty sure if the second story is true. I know who talking about Sure. In the story. Okay. Sure. Yeah. And I don't know them very well. I'm not personal friends. Others? Yep. Um, it just, I don't know, it's so hard. Because I want to go on my gut. I need to be like, Oh,
Cutter 1:07:39
I get it. I understand,
Maddie 1:07:40
like, pull it apart. And like, really think about it. Yeah.
Cutter 1:07:45
I mean, no, it's not easy. And the fact that the fact that you're laboring over it right now makes me feel good. Makes me feel like I've done my job. You know? Yeah.
Maddie 1:07:53
Because I when I first heard it, I was like, okay, know what, I know. This is not gonna be true. Yeah. And like the party still wants to like, have Muse like, Oh, my God, and just be like, this one's true. And this one's nice. Yeah. And the other one other part of me is like, Oh, just like, scrape the rivers off instead? Yeah. Why
Cutter 1:08:14
not? Have fun be different? Exactly. But I mean, yeah, there's no, there's no, there's no real precedent either way. Like, it's a meme. You know,
Maddie 1:08:22
so true, but I do want to be right. Oh, of course. I mean, let's be only be fair, since you were right about mine. Sure. No, no, no, totally. two L's over here.
Cutter 1:08:30
I mean, that would be so unfortunate. I know. Right? Yeah. Gosh, so. No, I mean, look, the fact that you're the fact that you're having a having a struggle with it is yeah,
Maddie 1:08:43
I just to go back and like have like two other stories to connect to the stories that you told the season. Yep. makes it challenging. Yeah. I'm just like, obviously, the second one was a lie. Right. Last time. Yep. Yeah. And I knew it was in it. Yeah.
Cutter 1:09:03
You knew the real story of that I that I took from Yeah.
Maddie 1:09:08
And so that just makes me want to be like know, also, that story is so like, like, really to people like I have the
Cutter 1:09:17
view. That'd be absurd, absurd and be ridiculous.
Maddie 1:09:21
And I also feel like oh, God, like, I remember, I don't think you had the podcast at this time. Or did you?
Cutter 1:09:31
The time of the ad? No, no, the podcast was not around at the time of either the stories
Maddie 1:09:35
Yeah, and I like I pretty much saw you like pretty often, like during that semester, especially. Yeah, yeah. Um, because it was before we even like moved in or anything like that. Yeah, and, and stuff like that. And I would just feel like, you would just be like, you'll never guess what happened. You'll never believe me, but like in real life,
Cutter 1:09:58
that would be the like fly I should have inspiration for the show. Yeah, that makes sense. Yeah. I feel like
Maddie 1:10:04
you know, I like obviously like a ton of stories kind of happen at the gym and Oh, sure. Yeah, like you wanna? Yeah, absolutely. I think I'm gonna go with the second one isn't true.
Cutter 1:10:18
The first one is first one is that I that I did get peed on as I would say, I wouldn't accuse you of saying that I got peed on. But that I got peed on twice is true.
Maddie 1:10:28
Yeah, I read out loud. I just want to be like,
Cutter 1:10:33
like, you want to put a little disclaimer,
Maddie 1:10:36
disclaimer. Maddie can still be right, even if I'm wrong. Um,
Cutter 1:10:46
but no, I think that I that's just lamer. I'm struggling here. That's fair. No, that's a totally reasonable. Yes. Yeah. And you're in good company. I mean, you'd be in good company either way. So true. Yeah, absolutely.
Maddie 1:10:56
I mean, just like the pros and cons list that I kind of like made in my head. Oh, sure. Yeah, it's definitely leaning more towards that story. Like being true. Like, the first one being true. And the second one being not true. Sure. Sure. If it comes by that's like the point at the end of the season. Where I'm wrong. Sure. I think um, I think we can use the bathroom upstairs for a little murder mystery. Okay,
Cutter 1:11:24
let's not let's not go to threats of violence. This is going up on line. So if I do get murdered after this is revealed, you'd be like a prime suspect for that alone. I mean, I have to you know, I have to leave that part in for my own safety now. Right.
Maddie 1:11:40
I mean, if that if, if that's my impression you have
Cutter 1:11:43
it's pretty good. It's if that's on good evidence that's on good authority.
Maddie 1:11:47
Don't worry. I haven't interviewed for a law firm tomorrow
Cutter 1:11:52
so fair. Well, I appreciate the the that you made your guests and I appreciate that you struggled to make you guess.
Maddie 1:12:01
Yeah, it's just like my own little internal battle. Oh, sure. Yeah, me wanting to be right. But also, like, I could be wrong. It's literally like a, like a coin flip.
Cutter 1:12:11
Yeah, totally fair. That's all it is perfect. And that's, that's the dream. That's what I wanted. Yeah. And
Maddie 1:12:16
so it's just kind of like, I get a 30% chance to Oh, sure. To get this right. Or you're wrong,
Cutter 1:12:24
because you know, how it's gonna be. Yeah, absolutely. Well, thank you, Maddie, so much
Maddie 1:12:30
for your guests. Of course, Qatar.
Cutter 1:12:33
Well, Maddy, thank you so much for joining me, I think. Above all else, we learned that you and Aubrey run away from a lot more things than you may be to at least. But it does seem to be well, if it's well established enough for that to be the basis of both your true and fake story. I think you should maybe think about where you're going more.
Maddie 1:12:56
You know, that might be a good idea. But then where's the fun in that?
Cutter 1:12:59
Yeah, then we're then you wouldn't have these lovely stories to come on
Maddie 1:13:02
and tell on the show. Yeah, I planned any of it. It would just not be finished
Cutter 1:13:07
wouldn't just wouldn't be the same. Well, thank you so much for joining me. Maddie. Were having me. Of course. Where can listeners find more of you?
Maddie 1:13:14
Um, so I am on social media. So it's Maddie so MITB ie underscore bein AI en tu on Instagram? Um, see me on there sometimes? Yeah. Well, on all my stories, yeah. Maybe me posting soon actually. And then I also work at the gym. So you'll see me a lot of the climbing wall if you ever go to climbing wall
Cutter 1:13:39
that's that's for Michael Jim. Carolina State University
Maddie 1:13:43
State University. Sorry, I did not make that specific.
Cutter 1:13:46
Oh, yeah. No, it's I mean, it's okay. Just gotta just gotta clarify for all the people. Oh, yeah. Who aren't NC State students you know,
Maddie 1:13:52
but if you ever there Come say hi. I will try to be friendly. I guess
Cutter 1:13:59
she'll be the one that looks upset that she's working. Mostly I'm actually okay. No, you aren't you are pretty you are pretty chipper Most times when you're in the office.
Maddie 1:14:07
I'm probably a little more upset. Sure. Yeah. Um, that's fair. But if I'm out I'm usually doing okay.
Cutter 1:14:14
Sure. Makes sense. Yeah, well, Maddy, thank you so much for taking the time taking the the exercise the mental stress Oh yeah. Of going on until the stories so thank you so much.
